How Very European! – Event Round-Up

In the villages in Europe, there are still healers who tell stories.

– Yannick Noah

Even though it’s the smallest continent, Europe manages to fit a hugely diverse group of people in it.

I wanted to take the opportunity this week to share with you three of our stand-out customers to celebrate the vibrant differences in the European events that take place around here.

From Germany

Bavarian snow, a lake surrounded by the Alps, and Ruby. Frankly, beyond a coat, what more could you want?

Ruby on Ice is set to be one of the leading events of its kind next January due to its vastly international line-up and unique location.

This three-day event will explore Ruby, Rails and the related technologies and people that help this framework to flourish.

So that the organisers can cater to those who want to engage with the conference, but who might not have means, they’re also providing diversity tickets through this application process.

And if you want to keep an eye on the snowfall closer to the time in anticipation of the outdoor activities on offer, you can see updates here.

Dates: January 26th-28th, 2018.

From Finland

SLUSH is one of the largest conferences in Europe, having boasted some 17,500 guests last year. (Which is as many people as could live on Easter Island at capacity, for context)

There’s been a growing trend of pre-event events that compliment large-scale ones like SLUSH. A few days before the main event, the folks at Arctic Start Up will be putting on PitchMaster 2017.

This presentation workshop focuses on every aspect of public speaking and is suitable for those presenting at SLUSH, but also those who simply want to present themselves more effectively.

You can grab early bird tickets until Hallowe’en through this link.

Dates: November 22nd, 2017.

From The Netherlands

Now in its second year, TestBash is made up of 6 full-day workshops and several 99-second talks.

It’s organised by the Ministry of Testing, an organisation that provides learning, collaboration, and resources to empower the software community.

The focus for this event will be advanced automation for Agile and the main presenter will be Angie Jones.

It’ll take place in Boothstraat 7, Utrecht and tickets are available here.

Dates: April 12th & 13th, 2018.
