A Round-Up of the 2019 WWDC Satellite Events

At Tito, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the passionate experts behind some of the best WWDC satellite events around.

  1. They’ve shared insights with us about why satellite events are important to their community.
  2. They’ve spoken at our conference.
  3. And we’re very humbled to say that some use Tito to sell their tickets. ?

Since WWDC is right around the corner, we wanted to shine a spotlight on what’s in store for those events this year. If you’re in and around for the festival, don’t miss out on these stellar opportunities.

1) Layers

Layers is a three-day conference for technologists and designers, co-hosted by Jessie Char and Elaine Pow. Their event has become a mainstay in Apple fans’ calendars over the past few years.

They put a lot of thought into the content of course, boasting speakers like Dylan Field (CEO of Figma), Val Head (Design Evangelist at Adobe), and Pieter Omvlee (Founder of Sketch) on their line-up this year, but every little detail at Layers is orchestrated to delight attendees.

From their famous snacks (yes, really) to their hand soap, to their in-case-you-forgot-toothpaste stations, they’ve got you covered on all sides to make sure you enjoy what they have in store.

Dates: June 3rd-5th, 2019

Location: San Jose, CA

Tickets: Available now for $850

2) AltConf

AltConf or the “alternative Apple developer conference” is hosted right next door to WWDC. The event is community-driven with a focus on serving developers and the product-driven community.

Their schedule includes such highlights as a live-stream of the WWDC keynote and State of the Union sessions, an escape room(!), two speaker tracks, and a lab room.

For a taste of what’s to come, you can look back on AltConf videos from their previous three editions here.

There’s also an exciting set of additions this year, in the form of this WWDC satellite event’s own satellite events! AltConf will be happening in London, Madrid, and Paris consecutively on June 3rd, meaning there’s now a chance for even more folks to get involved.

Dates: June 3rd-5th, 2019

Location: San Jose, CA

Tickets: Are free, but there’s an option to support the conference with a pay-what-you-want donation, or a suggested donation of $360.

3) The Talk Show with John Gruber

The Talk Show with John Gruber is hosted by… John Gruber! You might know John from Daring Fireball where he’s become something of an oracle about all things Apple.

The Talk Show has been running since 2014 and is John’s podcast. All of the previous episodes are available on the Daring Fireball website. He’s had such notable guests over the years as Jason Snell, Matthew Panzarino, and David Sparks. The show, as always will focus on the latest updates in Apple technology and beyond.

Date: June 4th, 2019

Location: San Jose, California.

Tickets: Are, unfortunately, sold out at the moment. However, you can keep an eye on Twitter for ticket updates.

4) The Loop Bash

By the time The Loop Bash comes around, it is literally party time. This event is a chance for attendees to kick back and celebrate.

The Loop Bash is a party at The Ritz on the first night of WWDC, one block away from the main venue. Entertainment on the night will be provided by The Houserockers, a ten-piece rock and soul group.

The Loop itself is a site dedicated to providing in-depth, unbiased coverage of all that comes from the Apple world. Their aim is to provide answers about the biggest product releases from all the major companies in the industry. It’s headed up by Jim Dalrymple and Dave Mark.

Attendees are advised that RSVPing to The Loop Bash doesn’t guarantee entry, and to be early to avoid disappointment.

Date: June 3rd, 2019

Venue: The Ritz, San Jose, CA.

Tickets: Free! And available here.

5) James Dempsey and the Breakpoints

If you’ve got an appetite for more music two days after The Loop Bash, then James Dempsey and the Breakpoints are here to provide. In this benefit concert for App Camp for Girls, James Dempsey and the Breakpoints will be showcasing their unique brand of humorous, original, programming-orientated songs.

Now a staple of WWDC week, this event draws techies, nerds, and community luminaries for a night of mingling and musical charm. Before the fine folks in the band take to the stage, there’ll be a cocktail hour where the crowd can chat, and settle into one of the most relaxed and memorable events on the WWDC calendar.

Date: June 5th, 2019.

Venue: The Ritz, San Jose, CA.

Tickets: Available here for just $35. If you can’t attend, but want to support the cause, the ticket page also gives you the option to make a remote donation.

With such a smorgasbord of choices, we’re sure something here will tickle your fancy. With that, all that’s left to say is that we hope you enjoy the show(s).
